Kaitlyn Guay, a sophomore at Greely High School, finally spread her love and talent for music for everyone to hear. Kaitlyn recently produced Realizations,  her first original album of seven completely original and self-produced songs.  This album was released on many music platforms including Spotify, iTunes, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Amazon Music.

To many, Kaitlyn’s album will be surprising news. However, those who are close to her know that she has been singing for as long as she can remember and that during the summer of 2017 she started to arrange and create her own tracks.

“Something just clicked,” she said, “and I realized that I loved making music.” Kaitlyn came to this discovery after purchasing the music production software program, Logic Pro x. Since that moment, she has been working on songs in her spare time.

That same summer, one of her hits “Take Me” was created, and with it, the idea of an album. Since that song, Kaitlyn has found inspiration through many people and role models, one of those being American pop star Charlie Puth.

Charlie Puth, who has won 9 various awards for his music, is a popular pop star who is often known for his use of layered tracks and beats in addition to his own vocals. Kaitlyn has expressed how his use of layered vocals and instruments caught her attention and he quickly became her “musical inspiration” during the process of making her album.

In addition to Charlie Puth’s songs, her friends have also given her a lot of lyrical inspiration. This has influenced the meanings of her songs so that her lyrics to be relatable for many high schoolers since many of them are based on things that she and her friends felt or experienced.

Although Kaitlyn’s album was met with loads of positive comments and support, Kaitlyn has said that any possible future music will not surface for quite awhile. Even though there won’t be any new released songs, when asked about her future plans, she said,  “I will not stop making music because it is definitely one of my passions. Learning how to create music is one of the best things I have ever done.”

Kaitlyn strongly encourages anyone who is thinking about making their own music career to go through with it. She shared some advice for anyone interested. “I would also suggest making a ton of music of their own and finding their music personality because it is a very important thing to have in one’s own music,” Kaitlyn said. She also insists that becoming confident in yourself and your abilities will greatly help anyone’s new music career.

Even though Kaitlyn won’t be resurfacing with new music any time soon, her album Realizations, is still available on Spotify, iTunes, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Amazon Music.
